Recognition and Performance Level on the Prevention of Nosocomial Infection of the Nursing Student

Abstract
Purpose: This study was aimed for investigating recognition and performance level of the nursing student for the prevention of nosocomial infection and providing information for development of effective education program.

Method: The subjects of the study were 167 senior nursing students. Reliability of recognition level was Cronbach¢¥ ¥á=.9593 and reliability of performance level was Cronbach¢¥ ¥á=.9574.

Result: 1) The mean score of recognition level, the category of disinfection equipment management get the highest record, and followed by respiratory tract infection management, hand washing, personal hygiene management, urinary tract infection management and fluid therapy & catheter management. The mean score of performance level, the category of urinary tract infection management get the highest record, and followed by personal hygiene management, disinfection equipment management, hand washing, respiratory tract infection management, and fluid therapy & catheter management. 2) In all categories, recognition level are higher than performance level and There was positive correlation. 3) Recognition level was significant between college students and junior college students, performance level wasn¢¥t significant. Recognition level was significant for nosocomial infection related education experience.

Conclusion: I suggest the study to generalize result more subjects with objective tool and the development an effective education program, prevention of nosocomial infection related.
